HONOLULU (AP) — A Hawaii couple is suing United Airlines, claiming a fallen serving cart caused $75,000 in damages.
Peter and Misty Tampon filed a federal lawsuit last Friday against the airline, according to KHON-TV (https://bit.ly/1PwWcPi).
The pair claims that during an August 2013 flight from Honolulu to Narita, Japan a flight attendant left a serving cart unattended by Peter Tampon’s seat. According to the lawsuit, the cart fell on him, injuring his left knee and leg and causing him to undergo three surgeries.
The lawsuit claims Peter Tampon suffered physical and psychological injuries, including pain, mental anguish and loss of enjoyment of life.
“The safety of our customers is paramount to our business,” said United spokeswoman Mary Ryan, “however, we cannot comment on pending litigation.”
The case is scheduled to go to conference Nov. 16.
